Recordings of interviews with Mississippi John Hurt (1892-1966), African-American country blues guitarist, singer, and recording artist from Avalon, Miss.; and Mance Lipscomb (ca. 1895- ), African-American country blues guitarist, singer, and recording artist from Navasota, Tex. Hurt classifies his songs into different types, playing the songs on the guitar as examples. Lipscomb discusses changes in race relations during his lifetime, and his musical techniques, tunings, and other blues musicians.
